Managing reservation requests without a timetable used to be a lot of work. ressys automatically books and confirms all journeys or trips as soon as the timetable is finalised. This saves a lot of time, which we can use for other important tasks.

The Zentralbahn

The Zentralbahn, SBB's leisure railway, operates on the Lucerne-Engelberg and Lucerne-Interlaken route network and provides access to the attractive tourist triangle of Lucerne, Engelberg-Titlis and Interlaken. The railway company also operates the Meiringen-Innertkirchen line. At the same time, it provides commuter services in the prospering region. A railway company that is developing dynamically and rapidly and in which a great deal of trust is invested.

The challenge

On 1 January 2005, the Brünig Railway and the Lucerne-Stans-Engelberg Railway merged to form zb Zentralbahn AG, two-thirds of which is owned by SBB. In order to optimise train capacity utilisation and minimise dependence on third parties, the Zentralbahn has put its own reservation system into operation. The system should be able to be adapted to the special requirements of a railway or bus company in the tourist public transport sector with little effort. In a public tender, the management decided in favour of ressys.

Our solution

In five months, we implemented ressys and trained all customer advisors in the travel centres, bus drivers and train attendants. ressys automates, digitalises and networks booking processes. From individual journeys to journeys on the Globi Express or in the driver's cab to group trips for domestic and foreign tourists. The system provides information about bookings in real time, monitors timetables and automatically generates notifications if reservations need to be adjusted.

Your customer benefit

ressys combines the Zentralbahn's offers with partner offers. The system speeds up administration and optimises, for example, the allocation of categories and contingents or seat-specific reservations. Thanks to the app, the accompanying staff have an overview of reservations or free seats and can book travellers on the move without a reservation. The system is also compatible with all common travel and tourism systems and has interfaces to the International Union of Railways (UIC), the CAPRE seat management system and online travel agencies.
